2 Days ’til Departure

4 Jun

With it being two days until I leave, I began laying out stuff that I’m going to need. It has started to sink it that it is this close. I’ve been planning for this trip for over seven months now, and I’ve never been this stoked about this trip! I was reading J.I. Packer yesterday and it was a chapter talking about God being wise. He tied the topic of Him being wise and how he uses different situations in our lives (whether good or bad) to work for the good of his will. I thought it was so appropriate for me to read this and I know that God has something amazing planned to happen on this trip.

    Hello Chris,
You are on your way and will receive this when you arrive….tomorrow night. I wanted you to know that you will be in Mine and Linda’s prayers the next two weeks as you serve and witness in that far away place. I know God has a plan for you and the service you will render in the future. This is just a step toward that and He will bless you as you follow Him.
Thank you for being a good and faithful servant.
    God bless you…..Ted Tate
PS Really hopr you get to a World Cup game. Brian and I did that in Florida one year and it was awesome.

Hey, Chris, your Dad said you would be flying over the Atlantic at this time and that you would not get to S. Africa until 9:00 p.m. Monday. Wow! That is a long time in the air! Our prayers are with you as you go, also asked our SS group to pray for you as well. God speed. Love Ya, Grandma & Grandpa T

You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you serve our Lord in that far off place. Am glad you made it there safely — what a long time in the air! Let God lead you and then watch as He does great things. Take pics, and then more pics for us to see the things you are seeing. Great-Gran sends her love and prayers. Am so very proud of you and what you are doing. Love ya!

So glad to hear you are in SA! I talked with Heidi, my friend from SA. She said the temp would be around 40 degrees and that you are 7 hours ahead of us–is that right? She also said that her nephew works the grounds for the World Cup. She is going to send me his telephone number, just in case you need a connection and things work out for you. She said he is a really good guy–was an exchange student–I guess in the US. Stay safe and go with God wherever He leads. Love Ya, Grandma and Grandpa T
